All first-graders in Vysočina are to receive a safe backpack! :)

23. 8. 2024

As part of our awareness-raising activities and long-term cooperation with the Vysočina Region, we’ve helped prepare a ‘safe backpack’ for first-graders in Vysočina. Educating children about the proper way to sort and recycle e-waste is a priority in the long-term strategy of the ASEKOL compliance scheme.

This year, the Vysočina Region will see 5,697 first-graders sit at their new desks to start primary school. Not only the beginning of their educational journey, this special day is also an important step in their lives. In order to make this day even more enjoyable for the children and give them a sense of importance, the Vysočina Region has prepared them a special welcome gift, the reflective Školák Vysočina backpack, which they can wear both to school and in their leisure time. The reflective backpack comes with a high-vis vest, a small bike-repair kit, a snack box, an educational brochure entitled Travels with the Hare, a clock for learning to tell the time, a set of wax crayons, a pencil sharpener, a Fränkisch notebook, a brochure entitled Ferda at the Driving School, and a cut-out paper model of a collection box. We hope that these and other small gifts will help get the children looking forward to school and enjoy their classes,” says Jan Břížďala, Vysočina Region Councillor for Education, Youth and Sports.

“Each backpack is designed primarily to include safety features, as children’s safety is a priority for the region. The colour of the backpack itself is reflective, so that the children are easily seen. And, of course, we’ve thought of their education, too. The Road Safety Authority brochure, Ferda at the Driving School, explains the Highway Code and how to behave on the road to children in a way that’s easy for them to understand. Packaging made from recyclable materials teaches them something about the environment,” adds Vítězslav Schrek, Governor of the Vysočina Region.

The Vysočina Region has agreed with the primary school heads that it will distribute the backpacks during the last week of the summer holidays. Some first-graders will receive them from regional councillors, who will be there to see them start the new school year. Almost seventy first-graders in Moravské Budějovice will be given their backpacks on September 2 in person by Vítězslav Schrek, Governor of the Vysočina Region.

The ASEKOL compliance scheme would like to wish all first-graders and schoolchildren a wonderful start to the new school year! 🙂
