ASEKOL is a general partner of the Waste Prevention Conference!

7. 10. 2024

On 10 October, the ASEKOL Waste Prevention Conference, of which AEKOL is the general partner, will once again be held.

The conference is intended for all those who are interested in the topic of how to prevent and reuse waste, and who welcome and want to develop the circular economy here in the Czech Republic. The conference is mostly attended by waste management professionals from companies and local councils. The conference is a chance to meet representatives of key ministries and organisations (the Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Central Statistical Office, control authorities, etc.), representatives of municipalities, companies from various industries and non-profit organisations. The conference is an ideal opportunity to make new contacts and start working together on new schemes and projects.

Anyone interested in waste-related issues can look forward to the following selected topics at this year’s conference:

  • The obligation for municipalities to ensure separate collection of textile waste from 1 January 2025, as well as other legislative developments (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the introduction of a deposit system for beverage containers, the Right to Repair Directive…)
  • Food waste
  • E-waste and the digitalisation of waste management

In addition to new legislative developments, the conference is dedicated to four main areas. The mandatory collection of textiles and footwear in cities and municipalities, which starts on 1 January 2025, is a particularly topical issue. How to prepare for this, who will pay the costs, at what stage are the preparations for an extended manufacturer responsibility system, or how to improve the standard of recycling…? The morning panel discussion will answer these and other questions. This discussion will be followed by a session dedicated to food waste and will present current projects and the most interesting activities in this field. After lunch, the participants will engage in another topical panel discussion, this time on the introduction of a deposit system for selected beverage containers, which is causing considerable controversy. The event will round off with a session dedicated to e-waste and the digitalisation of waste management.
